The
restaurant “A Cuccagna” is situated in the centre of the
city, in the heart of Palermo, a short distance from the
port, the central station and all urban and rural buses. A
short distance from the main theatres such as the Massimo,
the Biondo and the Politeama; this also includes numerous
hotels like the historical Hotel Des Palmes.
Founded in 1974 by Cav. Francesco Paolo Sammarco, grand
maestro of restoration. By his side his son Carmelo, who was
honoured with the title “Maìtre de Table de Restorateur de
la Chaine des Rotisseurs of the B.A.I.A. international and
is part of the Association Maìtre Italiani Ristoranti and
Alberghi (A.M.I.R.A.). Specialized in flambé plates, he was
regional champion of this speciality in the years 1992 and
1994. He vants his activity to the creation of original
plates, much appreciated. He also participated on the
television show “Numero Uno” of Pippo Baudo arriving second.
To this principle activity he adds that of journalist and
photographer. The book he wrote “Cucinare alla Siciliana”
has been translated in five languages.
It’s about a typical, elegant and cosy locality. It offers
typical Sicilian plates, but also Italian and international
specialities. Also doted with an excellent cantine. Their
kitchen has been appraised by numerous famous personalities
from the world of culture, politics and economy such as
Guttuso, Annigoni, Fabbri, F.F. Coppola, Tom Cruise,
Takashima, James Brown, Don Juan di Borbone, and also the
King of Spain Juan Carlos di Borbone and the Queen Sofia.
